0011| RELATING TO TRAFFIC LAWS; AMENDING A SECTION OF THE NMSA 1978

0012| CONCERNING VEHICLE LOAD LIMITS; FURTHER CLARIFYING STANDARDS

0013| FOR SOLID WASTE COLLECTION VEHICLES.

0015| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
|
0016| Section 1. Section 66-7-406 NMSA 1978 (being Laws 1978,
|
0017| Chapter 35, Section 477, as amended) is amended to read:
|
0018| "66-7-406. SPECIAL LOAD LIMITS.--
|
0019| A. Subject to the provisions of Sections 66-7-401
|
0020| through 66-7-416 NMSA 1978 limiting the length of vehicles and
|
0021| loads, the load upon any vehicle operated alone or the load
|
0022| upon the front vehicle of a combination of vehicles shall not
|
0023| extend more than three feet beyond the foremost part of the
|
0024| vehicle, and the load upon any vehicle operated alone or the
|
0025| load upon the rear vehicle of a combination of vehicles shall
|
0001| not extend more than seven feet beyond the rear of the bed or
|
0002| body of the vehicle. For the purposes of this section, the
|
0003| foremost part of a front-end loading solid waste collection
|
0004| vehicle shall include the front-end loading equipment attached
|
0005| to the vehicle.
|
0006| B. If a vehicle combination consists of a tractor,
|
0007| semitrailer and a trailer, the rear overhang is limited to a
|
0008| maximum of two feet on the trailer and semitrailer and no front
|
0009| overhang."
