0011|     MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO INCREASE THE SALARIES AND THE SALARY
    |
0012|     RANGES FOR CLASSIFIED EXECUTIVE BRANCH EMPLOYEES.

0014|     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
    |
0015|          Section 1.  APPROPRIATION.--
    |
0016|               A.  Nineteen million seven hundred forty-six
    |
0017|     thousand six hundred dollars ($19,746,600) is appropriated from
    |
0018|     the general fund to the department of finance and
    |
0019|     administration to be distributed to state agencies in the
    |
0020|     executive branch of state government whose funds are derived
    |
0021|     substantially from the general fund to provide salary increases
    |
0022|     or adjustments to classified employees as follows:
    |
0023|                    (1)  seven hundred twenty-six thousand four
    |
0024|     hundred dollars ($726,400) for those employees whose salaries
    |
0025|     are equal to or above the maximum of their salary range, a
    |
0001|     lump-sum payment averaging two percent of the midpoint value of
    |
0002|     their salary range, subject to a pay for performance matrix
    |
0003|     distribution and payable in the first full pay period after the
    |
0004|     anniversary date of their appointment to their current class;
    |
0005|                    (2)  five million three hundred ninety-four
    |
0006|     thousand seven hundred dollars ($5,394,700) for other
    |
0007|     classified employees, a salary increase averaging three and
    |
0008|     one-half percent of the midpoint value of the employee's salary
    |
0009|     range, subject to a pay for performance matrix distribution and
    |
0010|     effective in the first full pay period after the employee's
    |
0011|     anniversary date; and
    |
0012|                    (3)  thirteen million six hundred twenty-five
    |
0013|     thousand five hundred dollars ($13,625,500) to increase the
    |
0014|     classified system's salary structure by four percent on July 1,
    |
0015|     1997.
    |
0016|               B.  Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining
    |
0017|     at the end of fiscal year 1998 shall revert to the general
    |
0018|     fund.
    |
0019|          Section 2.  EFFECTIVE DATE.--The effective date of the
    |
0020|     provisions of this act is July 1, 1997.
