0011| MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO STUDY THE FEASIBILITY OF

0012| ESTABLISHING COMMUNITY SENTENCING BOARDS IN NEW MEXICO.

0014| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

0015| Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Twenty thousand dollars
|
0016| ($20,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the
|
0017| criminal and juvenile justice coordinating council for
|
0018| expenditure in fiscal year 1999 for the purpose of conducting
|
0019| a feasibility study regarding the establishment of community
|
0020| sentencing boards in New Mexico. The criminal and juvenile
|
0021| justice coordinating council shall gather information
|
0022| regarding the operation of existing community sentencing
|
0023| boards in New York City, Vermont, Austin, El Paso and the
|
0024| Canadian province of Saskatchewan and report its findings to
|
0025| the legislature no later than December 1, 1998. Any
|

0001| unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of

0002| fiscal year 1999 shall revert to the general fund.
