0011|     MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR A DIABETES SELF-MANAGEMENT PROGRAM

0012|     IN NORTHERN NEW MEXICO; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.

0014|     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
    |
0015|          Section 1.  APPROPRIATION.--Two hundred twenty-five
    |
0016|     thousand dollars ($225,000) is appropriated from the general
    |
0017|     fund to the department of health for expenditure in fiscal
    |
0018|     years 1998 and 1999 for the purpose of contracting in Mora
    |
0019|     county for the continuation of a seven-county diabetes self-
    |
0020|     management program for low-income, uninsured and under-insured
    |
0021|     people in northern New Mexico.  Any unexpended or unencumbered
    |
0022|     balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 1999 shall revert
    |
0023|     to the general fund.
    |
0024|          Section 2.  EMERGENCY.--It is necessary for the public
    |
0025|     peace, health and safety that this act take effect
    |
