EISENSTADT | 0005| | 0006| | 0007| | 0008| | 0009| | 0010| AN ACT | 0011| MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR REGIONAL WATER PLANNING FOR | 0012| SANDOVAL, BERNALILLO, VALENCIA AND SOCORRO COUNTIES; DECLARING | 0013| AN EMERGENCY. | 0014| | 0015| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO: | 0016| Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--One hundred fifty thousand | 0017| dollars ($150,000) is appropriated from the general fund to | 0018| the interstate stream commission for expenditure in fiscal | 0019| years 1998 and 1999 for the purpose of funding regional water | 0020| studies in Sandoval, Bernalillo, Valencia and Socorro | 0021| counties. The money appropriated shall be expended for a | 0022| cost-sharing agreement with the United States army corps of | 0023| engineers pursuant to its planning assistance to the state | 0024| regional water planning program. The studies shall be to | 0025| determine the water planning needs of the four counties; to |

0001| compile background information, map products and historical | 0002| water use in each of the counties in accordance with the | 0003| regional water planning handbook of the interstate stream | 0004| commission; and to provide necessary information to initiate a | 0005| regional water plan pursuant to Sections 72-14-43 and 72-14-44 | 0006| NMSA 1978. Work undertaken pursuant to this appropriation | 0007| shall be planned and coordinated in advance with entities | 0008| pursuing regional water planning by or on behalf of the | 0009| counties. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at | 0010| the end of fiscal year 1999 shall revert to the general fund. | 0011| Section 2. EMERGENCY.--It is necessary for the public | 0012| peace, health and safety that this act take effect | 0013| immediately. | 0014| - 2 - |
