0011|     MAKING APPROPRIATIONS TO STATE PUBLIC POST-SECONDARY

0012|     INSTITUTIONS FOR ENHANCEMENT OF THE FUNDING FORMULA FOR

0013|     EXTENDED SERVICES INSTRUCTION.

0015|     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
    |
0016|          Section 1.  APPROPRIATIONS.--
    |
0017|               A.  Seven hundred sixty-seven thousand seven
    |
0018|     hundred dollars ($767,700) is appropriated from the general
    |
0019|     fund to the following public post-secondary institutions for
    |
0020|     expenditure in fiscal year 1999 for the purpose of reducing
    |
0021|     the tuition credit in the funding formula for extended
    |
0022|     services instruction:
    |
0023|                    (1)  two thousand one hundred dollars ($2,100)
    |
0024|     to the board of regents of New Mexico institute of mining and
    |
0025|     technology in Socorro county;

0001|                    (2)  eighty-one thousand four hundred dollars

0002|     ($81,400) to the board of regents of New Mexico state
    |
0003|     university in Dona Ana county;
    |
0004|                    (3)  four hundred one thousand six hundred

0005|     dollars ($401,600) to the board of regents of the university
    |
0006|     of New Mexico in Bernalillo county;
    |
0007|                    (4)  seventy-five thousand one hundred dollars
    |
0008|     ($75,100) to the board of regents of eastern New Mexico
    |
0009|     university in Roosevelt county;
    |
0010|                    (5)  sixty thousand eight hundred dollars
    |
0011|     ($60,800) to the board of regents of New Mexico highlands
    |
0012|     university in San Miguel county;
    |
0013|                    (6)  eighty-one thousand dollars ($81,000) to
    |
0014|     the board of regents of western New Mexico university in Grant
    |
0015|     county;
    |
0016|                    (7)  sixteen thousand six hundred dollars

0017|     ($16,600) to the governing board of Clovis community college
    |
0018|     in Curry county;
    |
0019|                    (8)  seven thousand three hundred dollars
    |
0020|     ($7,300) to the governing board of New Mexico junior college
    |
0021|     in Lea county;
    |
0022|                    (9)  nine thousand seven hundred dollars
    |
0023|     ($9,700) to the board of regents of northern New Mexico state
    |
0024|     school in Rio Arriba county; and
    |
0025|                    (10)  thirty-two thousand one hundred dollars

0001|     ($32,100) to the board of regents of the Roswell branch of
    |
0002|     eastern New Mexico university in Chaves county.
    |
0003|               B.  Two million six hundred fifty thousand one
    |
0004|     hundred dollars ($2,650,100) is appropriated from the general
    |
0005|     fund to the commission on higher education for expenditure in
    |
0006|     fiscal year 1999 for the purpose of funding the general or "G"
    |
0007|     component of the extended services and distance education
    |
0008|     formula.  In order to encourage collaboration between the
    |
0009|     institutions delivering instructional credit and those at
    |
0010|     which the credit is received, the delivering and receiving
    |
0011|     institutions, in cooperation with the commission on higher
    |
0012|     education, shall devise a plan for distribution of this
    |
0013|     funding between the delivering and receiving institutions on
    |
0014|     an equitable basis.  Funds shall be distributed to the
    |
0015|     institutions by the commission on higher education upon
    |
0016|     completion of this funding distribution plan.
    |
0017|               C.  Any unexpended or unencumbered balance
    |
0018|     remaining at the end of fiscal year 1999 shall revert to the
    |
0019|     general fund.
