APPROPRIATION.-- | 0015| A. Four hundred fifty thousand dollars ($450,000) is appropriated from the | 0016| general fund to the state department of public education for expenditure in fiscal year 1999 | 0017| for the purpose of conducting a statewide media literacy program including: | 0018| (1) expansion of media literacy as substance abuse prevention; | 0019| (2) dissemination of technology and media literacy programs; | 0020| (3) unique educational CD-ROM technology training; | 0021| (4) support of the Taos talking picture festival media literacy | 0022| forum; | 0023| (5) increase of Native American media literacy programs; | 0024| (6) development of a comprehensive critical thinking media literacy | 0025| curriculum; |

0001| (7) enhancing the "empowering parents of young children" | 0002| program; | 0003| (8) expanding free training for rural and disadvantaged groups; | 0004| (9) extending training programs; | 0005| (10) evaluating the programs; and | 0006| (11) continuing building educational programs. | 0007| B.
