APPROPRIATION.--Seventy-five thousand dollars | 0018| ($75,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the | 0019| legislative council service for expenditure in fiscal years | 0020| 1998 and 1999 for an interim committee appointed by the New | 0021| Mexico legislative council and appropriate staff to conduct a | 0022| long-range, statewide corrections and crime control study. | 0023| The committee shall develop a balanced and responsive | 0024| corrections policy in coordination with the criminal and | 0025| juvenile justice coordinating council, the corrections |

0001| department and the department of public safety that includes | 0002| establishing appropriate rehabilitation programs and providing | 0003| oversight of the construction of corrections facilities. Any | 0004| unencumbered or unexpended balance remaining at the end of | 0005| fiscal year 1999 shall revert to the general fund. | 0006| Section 2. EMERGENCY.--It is necessary for the public | 0007| peace, health and safety that this act take effect | 0008| immediately. | 0009|  |
