0012|     RELATING TO THE PUBLIC PEACE, HEALTH, SAFETY AND WELFARE;

0013|     MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE STATE ENGINEER TO ASSIST THE

0014|     MIDDLE RIO GRANDE CONSERVANCY DISTRICT IN MAPPING EFFORTS

0015|     REQUIRED FOR THE FILING OF A PROOF OF BENEFICIAL USE FOR THE

0016|     DISTRICT WATER RIGHT.

0018|     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

0019|          Section l.  APPROPRIATION.--Two hundred thousand dollars
    |
0020|     ($200,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the office
    |
0021|     of the state engineer for expenditure in fiscal year 1999 for
    |
0022|     the purpose of funding mapping efforts required for the filing
    |
0023|     of a proof of beneficial use for the middle Rio Grande
    |
0024|     conservancy district water right for the purpose of acquiring
    |
0025|     a license to appropriate water.  The office of the state
    |
<center>- 1 -</center>0001|     engineer shall review and concur with any proposed use of the

0002|     appropriation prior to disbursement.  All of the appropriation
    |
0003|     shall be disbursed by the office of the state engineer to the
    |
0004|     middle Rio Grande conservancy district.  Any unexpended or
    |
0005|     unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 1999
    |
0006|     shall revert to the general fund.
