            43RD LEGISLATURE - SECOND SESSION, 1998

FOR EXTENDED LEARNING PROJECTS THROUGHOUT THE STATE.
     I request that the following capital outlay projects be funded:
                    to the board of regents of northern New Mexico state school:
          
                    two hundred fifty-seven thousand three hundred sixty dollars ($257,360) to
          purchase and install equipment, construct facilities and make enhancements for
          the extended learning network in northern New Mexico;
                    to the community college board of Clovis community college:
          
                    one million one hundred forty-seven thousand five hundred dollars ($1,147,500)

          to purchase, install and upgrade equipment; construct facilities and expand the
          extended learning network in northeast New Mexico;
                    to the board of regents of New Mexico highlands university:
          
                    four hundred twenty-eight thousand two hundred dollars ($428,200) to purchase
          and install equipment and construct improvements to New Mexico highlands
          university's extended learning facilities in San Miguel and Santa Fe counties;
                    to the board of regents of western New Mexico university:
          
                    one hundred twenty-seven thousand eight hundred twenty-one dollars
          ($127,821) to purchase and install equipment and construct facilities for an
          extended learning network in Catron, Grant, Hidalgo, Luna and Sierra counties;
          and
                    to the board of regents of New Mexico state university:
          
          A.  one hundred sixty-nine thousand dollars ($169,000) to purchase and install

equipment and construct improvements to New Mexico state university's extended learning
facilities in Otero county; and
          B.  nine hundred sixteen thousand nine hundred one dollars ($916,901) to
purchase and install equipment and construct telecommunications and classroom facilities for
the electronic distance education network statewide.
