            43RD LEGISLATURE - SECOND SESSION, 1998
                           REQUESTED BY

FOR CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS IN CURRY, HARDING AND ROOSEVELT
COUNTIES.
     I request that the following capital outlay projects be
funded:
                    to the local government division of the department of
          finance and administration:
          A.  three hundred twenty-five thousand dollars
($325,000) to purchase a combination class A pumper, tanker and
rescue unit and related equipment for the Melrose volunteer fire
department in Curry county;

          B. thirty-nine thousand dollars ($39,000) to pay a loan
for water system improvements in the village of Grady in Curry
county; 
          C.  seventy-five thousand dollars ($75,000) to design,
construct, equip and furnish an addition to the Harding county
community building in Harding county;
                    to the state department of public education:
          A.  three hundred twenty-five thousand ($325,000) to
acquire computer equipment and to renovate the boiler and heating
equipment and make improvements to the Melrose municipal school
in Curry county; 
          B.  one hundred one thousand six hundred five dollars
($101,605) to purchase and install computer and electronic
equipment for extended learning facilities at the Floyd municipal
school district in Roosevelt county;
          C.  fifty thousand dollars ($50,000) to purchase and

install computer equipment in the Roy municipal schools in
Harding county;
                    to the state highway and transportation department:
          A.  one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000) to make
improvements to Curry road K and to Curry road 13 in Curry
county; and
          B.  three hundred thousand dollars ($300,000) to make
improvements to streets in the village of Melrose in Curry
county;
                    to the state agency on aging:
     
                    eight thousand eight hundred dollars ($8,800) to
          renovate and make improvements to the Floyd senior
          citizen center in Roosevelt county; and
                    to the department of environment:
     
                    thirty thousand dollars ($30,000) to design, construct
          and inspect water system improvements for the community
          of Solano in Harding county.
