            43RD LEGISLATURE - SECOND SESSION, 1998

FOR CAPITAL PROJECTS IN SENATE DISTRICT 34.

     I request that the following capital outlay projects be funded:

                    to the local government division of the department of finance and administration:

                    A.  one hundred thirteen thousand six hundred fifty dollars ($113,650) for 
various improvements to the south extension unit of the Carlsbad boys' and girls' club, including 
basketball court and parking lot preparation and paving and necessary equipment, in Eddy
county;

          B.  ten thousand dollars ($10,000) for purchase and installation of educational 
technology, including necessary electrical system improvements, at the Carlsbad boys' and girls'

club in Carlsbad in Eddy county;

          C.  seven hundred fifty thousand dollars ($750,000) to plan, design, construct
and equip a new county public health office in the city of Artesia in Eddy county;

          D.  one million dollars ($1,000,000) to plan, design, construct and equip a new 
juvenile detention facility with a minimum of twenty beds in Eddy county;

          E.  five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000) to plan, design, construct and equip
a new courtroom and related facilities as part of the remodeling of the county courthouse in 
Carlsbad in Eddy county;

          F.  one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000) to complete phase three
renovations of the community center, including landscaping and outdoor recreation equipment
purchase and installation, in the community of Otis in Eddy county;

          G.  one hundred eighty thousand dollars ($180,000) to plan, design, construct, 
remodel and equip the old Loving elementary school as a community center in the village of 

Loving in Eddy county;



          H.  two hundred five thousand dollars ($205,000) to plan, design, construct and
equip improvements, including sidewalks, lighting, retaining walls and landscaping, at Lake
Carlsbad in Carlsbad in Eddy county;

          I.  three hundred thousand dollars ($300,000) for various improvements to the
Pecos River Village conference center in Carlsbad in Eddy county;

          J.  one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000) for the purchase and installation of 
appropriate lighting for municipal baseball, softball and soccer fields in Carlsbad in Eddy
county;

          K.  one hundred twenty-one thousand dollars ($121,000) to repair and resurface 
various municipal tennis courts in Carlsbad in Eddy county; and

          L.  one hundred twenty thousand dollars ($120,000) to plan, design, construct
and equip picnic shelters at Riverview and Heritage municipal parks in Carlsbad in Eddy county;

                    to the department of environment:

                    five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000) to plan, design, construct and equip
          the phase two wastewater effluent reuse facility in Carlsbad in Eddy county; and

                    to the state agency on aging:

                    two hundred one thousand five hundred dollars ($201,500) to plan, design,
          remodel and equip the kitchen and storage area in the San Jose senior center in
          San Jose in Eddy county.
