                      STATE OF NEW MEXICO
            43RD LEGISLATURE - SECOND SESSION, 1998

FOR CAPITAL PROJECTS IN CHAVES COUNTY.

     I request that the following capital outlay projects be
funded:

                    to the state agency on aging:

          A.  five hundred fifty thousand nine hundred dollars
($550,900) to construct a new senior center in Roswell in Chaves
county;

          B.  three hundred fifty thousand dollars ($350,000) to
construct an addition to the Roswell adult center in Chaves
county;

          C.  seventy-five thousand dollars ($75,000) for
fencing, canopy, storage and paving at the Lake Arthur senior
center in Chaves county;

          D.  sixty-eight thousand dollars ($68,000) to purchase
meals equipment countywide in Chaves county; and

          E.  one hundred three thousand dollars ($103,000) to
purchase two automobiles, one fifteen-passenger van and two
minivans for Chaves county in Chaves county;

                    to the state department of public education:

          A.  eight hundred fifty-seven thousand five hundred
dollars ($857,500) for renovations to the Dexter school track and
stadium facilities in Chaves county; and

          B.  forty-one thousand nine hundred dollars ($41,900)
to upgrade and renovate buildings at Hagerman schools in Chaves
county;


                    to the department of environment:

          A.  one hundred twenty-four thousand five hundred
dollars ($124,500) for water system upgrades and to replace
deteriorated cast iron water lines at Hagerman in Chaves county;

          B.  twenty-eight thousand five hundred dollars
($28,500) to replace fire hydrants and valves at Hagerman in
Chaves county; and

          C.  seventy-three thousand dollars ($73,000) to
refurbish water storage to a workable condition at Hagerman in
Chaves county;

                    to the state highway and transportation department:
          
                    two hundred one thousand two hundred dollars ($201,200)
          for street resurfacing in Lake Arthur in Chaves county;

                    to the local government division of the department of
          finance and administration:

          A.  twenty-five thousand dollars ($25,000) to renovate
the law enforcement building in Lake Arthur in Chaves county;

          B.  five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000) for a new
fire department building in Lake Arthur in Chaves county;

          C.  one hundred fifty-seven thousand dollars ($157,000)
to purchase a garbage truck and dumpsters for Hagerman in Chaves
county;

          D.  fifty-four thousand dollars ($54,000) to improve
the little league field in Hagerman in Chaves county; and

          E.  two hundred fifty thousand dollars ($250,000) to
construct and improve an early childhood facility in Chaves
county.
