SENATE CAPITAL OUTLAY REQUEST 379   
                                
                      STATE OF NEW MEXICO
            43RD LEGISLATURE - SECOND SESSION, 1998

                           REQUESTED BY

FOR CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS IN CURRY COUNTY.

     I request that the following capital outlay projects be
funded:

                    to the local government division of the department of
          finance and administration:
               
          A.  two hundred fifty thousand dollars ($250,000) to
refurbish and renovate the exterior of the Curry county
                                             courthouse in Clovis in Curry county; and    

          B.  fifty thousand dollars ($50,000) to design a

security system for the Curry county courthouse in Clovis in
Curry county;

                    to the department of environment:

          A.  three million nine hundred seventy-seven thousand
five hundred thirteen dollars ($3,977,513) to enable the closure
of an existing landfill and for land acquisition, construction
and equipment for a Subtitle D landfill to serve Clovis in Curry
county and surrounding communities and counties; and

          B.  six hundred thousand dollars ($600,000) to repair
the dikes of the holding pond at the wastewater treatment plant
in Clovis in Curry county; and               






                    to the state highway and transportation department:
          
          A.  one million dollars ($1,000,000) for the drainage
project from Seventh street to Ingram lake, including
construction of a channel, highway crossing, dam at Ingram lake

and barrier between Ingram lake and the city landfill, in the
city of Clovis in Curry county;

          B.  two million fifty thousand dollars ($2,050,000) for
reconstruction and repair of Seventh street, including the
addition of lighting, sidewalks and drainage, in Clovis in Curry
county;

          C.  four hundred twenty-five thousand dollars
($425,000) for road improvements  in Curry county; and

          D.  fifty thousand dollars ($50,000) for parking lot
improvements at La Casa de Buena Salud in Clovis in Curry county.
