0001| HOUSE JOINT MEMORIAL 61 | 0002| 43RD LEGISLATURE - STATE OF NEW MEXICO - SECOND SESSION, 1998 | 0003| INTRODUCED BY | 0004| LUCIANO "LUCKY" VARELA | 0005| | 0006| | 0007| | 0008| | 0009| | 0010| A JOINT MEMORIAL | 0011| REQUESTING THE GENERAL SERVICES DEPARTMENT TO WORK WITH THE | 0012| CITY OF SANTA FE TO FINALIZE AN AGREEMENT FOR A PROPERTY | 0013| EXCHANGE INVOLVING THE OLD RECORDS AND ARCHIVES BUILDING. | 0014| | 0015| WHEREAS, the city of Santa Fe is redeveloping the Santa | 0016| Fe railyard property, and the old state records and archives | 0017| building on Montezuma avenue is adjacent to the city's | 0018| redevelopment project; and | 0019| WHEREAS, the state of New Mexico general services | 0020| department is developing the west capitol complex to house | 0021| state agencies off of Cerrillos road and Camino Carlos Rey; | 0022| and | 0023| WHEREAS, the city of Santa Fe wants to include the old | 0024| records and archives property in its railyard redevelopment | 0025| efforts; and | - 1 - 0001| WHEREAS, the state wants additional land in the vicinity | 0002| of the west capitol complex; and | 0003| WHEREAS, discussions between the city and the state have | 0004| led to a proposal to exchange the old records and archives | 0005| property for two and three-tenths acres of city-owned land; | 0006| and | 0007| WHEREAS, this exchange would mutually benefit the city | 0008| and the state; | 0009| NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE | 0010| STATE OF NEW MEXICO that the general services department be | 0011| requested to work with the city of Santa Fe to finalize an | 0012| agreement to provide for city acquisition of the old records | 0013| and archives building on Montezuma avenue in exchange for the | 0014| land near the west capitol complex; and | 0015| BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be | 0016| transmitted to the secretary of general services and to the | 0017| mayor of the city of Santa Fe. | 0018| - 2 - |
