0011|     RECOGNIZING THE NEW MEXICO SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA AS THE OFFICIAL

0012|     SYMPHONY OF NEW MEXICO.

0014|          WHEREAS, at the start of the 1997-98 season, the New
    |
0015|     Mexico symphony orchestra established a permanent endowment
    |
0016|     and is well on its way toward achieving its goal of raising
    |
0017|     three million dollars for the endowment; and
    |
0018|          WHEREAS, David Lockington, conductor and musical
    |
0019|     director, who recently signed a new contract with the
    |
0020|     symphony, said that the audience and community have really
    |
0021|     responded to what the orchestra is offering and that he is
    |
0022|     excited to be here; and
    |
0023|          WHEREAS, ticket sales are ahead of last year's sales at
    |
0024|     this time and the orchestra is on its way to a successful
    |
0025|     season and looking forward to serving the state with
    |

0002|          NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF
    |
0003|     REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that the New Mexico
    |
0004|     symphony orchestra be recognized as the official orchestra of
    |
0005|     New Mexico; and
    |
0006|          BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this memorial be
    |
0007|     transmitted to the conductor-director of the New Mexico
    |
0008|     symphony orchestra.
