TAYLOR | 0005| | 0006| | 0007| | 0008| | 0009| | 0010| A MEMORIAL | 0011| REQUESTING CONTINUED COOPERATION BETWEEN THE ALBUQUERQUE | 0012| METROPOLITAN ARROYO FLOOD CONTROL AUTHORITY, THE MIDDLE RIO | 0013| GRANDE CONSERVANCY DISTRICT AND OTHER ENTITIES IN PROVIDING | 0014| EFFICIENT AND COST-EFFECTIVE FLOOD PROTECTION TO THE RESIDENTS | 0015| OF THE GREATER ALBUQUERQUE AREA. | 0016| | 0017| WHEREAS, the New Mexico legislature recognizes that the | 0018| Albuquerque metropolitan arroyo flood control authority, the | 0019| middle Rio Grande conservancy district and other entities have | 0020| a responsibility to provide flood protection to the residents | 0021| of Albuquerque; and | 0022| WHEREAS, the Albuquerque metropolitan arroyo flood | 0023| control authority and other entities have constructed, own and | 0024| operate flood control facilities throughout the greater | 0025| Albuquerque area, including the Rio Grande valley; and |

0001| WHEREAS, the middle Rio Grande conservancy district has | 0002| constructed, owns and operates irrigation, drainage and flood | 0003| control facilities in the Rio Grande valley; and | 0004| WHEREAS, the facilities owned and operated by these | 0005| entities were purchased and are maintained with public funds; | 0006| and | 0007| WHEREAS, these entities have a history of cooperation in | 0008| providing flood control for the collective benefit of each | 0009| entity and the general public; | 0010| NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF | 0011| REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that the | 0012| Albuquerque metropolitan arroyo flood control authority, the | 0013| middle Rio Grande conservancy district, and other entities in | 0014| the area be urged to continue their cooperation and to strive | 0015| for the joint use of publicly financed facilities for the | 0016| common goal of controlling flood and storm waters, without | 0017| undue financial burden upon other public agencies; and | 0018| BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be | 0019| transmitted to the Albuquerque metropolitan arroyo flood | 0020| control authority and to the middle Rio Grande conservancy | 0021| district. | 0022|  |
