RODELLA | 0005| | 0006| | 0007| | 0008| | 0009| | 0010| A MEMORIAL | 0011| REQUESTING THE RIO ARRIBA BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS TO | 0012| NAME THE TIERRA AMARILLA PARK AFTER VICENTE MONTANO. | 0013| | 0014| WHEREAS, Vicente Montano was born on January 14, 1940 in | 0015| Nutrias, New Mexico and he grew up in Espanola; and | 0016| WHEREAS, as a boy, he worked for the newspaper, played | 0017| little league baseball and entered the boxing league; and | 0018| WHEREAS, he graduated from Tierra Amarilla high school, | 0019| lettering in baseball, football and basketball; and | 0020| WHEREAS, in 1960, he married Amelia Salazar, with whom he | 0021| raised three children and now enjoys the company of five | 0022| grandchildren; and | 0023| WHEREAS, he has a passion for coaching, having coached | 0024| little league for eighteen years, and he currently coaches | 0025| adult softball; and |

0001| WHEREAS, he has volunteered for countless hours of | 0002| community service; and | 0003| WHEREAS, the northern Rio Arriba American little league | 0004| was formally established in 1996, and Vicente serves as a | 0005| board member and coach; and | 0006| WHEREAS, Vicente teaches "his kids" to win but also to | 0007| lose with grace and respect for their opponents, and he gives | 0008| them the values that he lives by: respect, pride and honor; | 0009| NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF | 0010| REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that the Rio Arriba | 0011| board of county commissioners be requested to name the Tierra | 0012| Amarilla park "Vicente Montano Park" in honor of his devotion | 0013| to his community and to the state of New Mexico; and | 0014| BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be | 0015| transmitted to the Rio Arriba board of county commissioners. | 0016|  |
