0011| PROPOSING AN AMENDMENT TO ARTICLE 20 OF THE CONSTITUTION OF

0012| NEW MEXICO TO DEFINE A RECOGNIZED, VALID MARRIAGE AS ONE THAT

0013| IS PERFORMED OR ENTERED INTO BETWEEN ONE MAN AND ONE WOMAN.

0015| BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

0016| Section 1. It is proposed to amend Article 20 of the
|
0017| constitution of New Mexico by adding a new section to read:
|
0018| "The only marriage that is recognized, or valid, in the
|
0019| state of New Mexico, whether performed or entered into in New
|
0020| Mexico or elsewhere, is a marriage between one man and one
|
0021| woman; and any other marriage is against the public policy of
|
0022| New Mexico."

0023| Section 2. The amendment proposed by this resolution
|
0024| shall be submitted to the people for approval or rejection at
|
0025| the next general election or at any special election prior to
|
