AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO PROVIDE STATEWIDE EMERGENCY SERVICES THROUGH COMMUNITY ACTION AGENCIES.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--One million five hundred thousand dollars ($1,500,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the human services department for expenditure in fiscal year 2000 for the purpose of providing statewide emergency services for indigent persons through regional community action agencies, including assistance with rent, mortgage payments, utility bills and food bills, with priority given to assisting those in welfare-to-work circumstances. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2000 shall revert to the general fund.
