AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR THE STATE LIBRARY TO PURCHASE ELECTRONIC DATABASES FOR PUBLIC, ACADEMIC AND SCHOOL LIBRARIES.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Seven hundred thousand dollars ($700,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the library division of the office of cultural affairs for expenditure in fiscal years 2000 and 2001. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2001 shall revert to the general fund. The appropriation is to be apportioned in the following amounts for the following purposes:

A. three hundred thousand dollars ($300,000) to purchase a general interest electronic journals database for public, academic and secondary public school libraries;

B. three hundred thousand dollars ($300,000) to purchase an electronic business information database for public, academic and secondary public school libraries; and

C. one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000) to purchase an electronic health and medical information database for public, academic and secondary public school libraries.
