AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR A STATEWIDE EDUCATIONAL RECOVERY PROGRAM FOR TEEN PARENTS.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Seven hundred fifty thousand dollars ($750,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the state department of public education for expenditure by the vocational education division in fiscal year 2000 for the purpose of providing self-sustaining high school education programs that include training in prenatal care, parenting, healthy relationships, problem solving and economic independence for teenage parents as well as professional development, resources and technical assistance for teachers addressing both intervention and prevention of teenage pregnancy. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2000 shall revert to the general fund.
