AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR THE PARENTING EDUCATION OF YOUNG PARENTS RECENTLY RELEASED FROM INCARCERATION.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Two hundred fifty thousand dollars ($250,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the children, youth and families department for expenditure in fiscal year 2000 for the purpose of providing or contracting for parenting education services for young parents recently released from incarceration, including life skills, employment assistance and case management both for youth recently released from incarceration and for case management for pregnant minors who have not been incarcerated. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2000 shall revert to the general fund.
