AN ACT

MAKING APPROPRIATIONS FOR AN ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATIONS.--

A. The following amounts are appropriated from the general fund to the economic development department for expenditure in fiscal year 2000 for the following purposes:

(1) three hundred thousand dollars ($300,000) for state and local advertising;

(2) one hundred sixty thousand dollars ($160,000) to assist companies in rural areas in applying for and using in-plant training and other state development training resources;

(3) one hundred fifty thousand dollars ($150,000) to assist local communities to improve their capacity to attract new employers;

(4) seventy thousand dollars ($70,000) to pay for travel expenses for familiarization tours for representatives of national site location consulting firms; and

(5) seventy thousand dollars ($70,000) to develop and implement a plan to attract maquiladora suppliers to New Mexico.

B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2000 shall revert to the general fund.
