AN ACT

MAKING APPROPRIATIONS TO RESTORE AND CONSERVE NEW MEXICO'S PUBLIC ART FROM THE 1933-1942 DEPRESSION, FILM A DOCUMENTARY ABOUT NEW MEXICO'S PUBLIC ARTISTS FROM THE DEPRESSION AND PUBLISH AN ART BOOK ABOUT NEW MEXICO'S PUBLIC ART FROM THE DEPRESSION; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATIONS.--

A. The following amounts are appropriated from the general fund to the office of cultural affairs for expenditure in fiscal years 1999 and 2000 for the following purposes:

(1) three hundred thirty thousand dollars ($330,000) to restore and conserve New Mexico's public art from the depression;

(2) twenty thousand dollars ($20,000) to make a documentary film about New Mexico's public artists and their work from the depression; and

(3) one hundred fifty thousand dollars ($150,000) to publish an art book on New Mexico's public art from the depression.

B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2000 from any of the appropriations in Subsection A of this section shall revert to the general fund.

Section 2. EMERGENCY.--It is necessary for the public peace, health and safety that this act take effect immediately.
