AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO STUDY THE FEASIBILITY AND COST OF ESTABLISHING A STATE VETERANS' CEMETERY AT FORT STANTON.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--

A. Fifteen thousand dollars ($15,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the New Mexico veterans' service commission for expenditure in fiscal year 2000 to study the cost and feasibility of establishing a state veterans' cemetery at Fort Stanton. The general services department in cooperation with the New Mexico veterans' service commission shall conduct a study to determine the cost and feasibility of establishing a state veterans' cemetery at Fort Stanton. The New Mexico veterans' service commission shall seek federal funding for the construction of a state veterans' cemetery from the United States department of veterans affairs state cemetery program.

The general services department and New Mexico veterans' service commission shall report their findings to the legislature by December 1, 1999.

B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2000 shall revert to the general fund.
