AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE CHILDREN, YOUTH AND FAMILIES DEPARTMENT TO CONTRACT FOR A STATEWIDE PROGRAM THAT ASSISTS AT-RISK YOUTH WITH THE DEVELOPMENT OF LIFE SKILLS.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--One million dollars ($1,000,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the children, youth and families department for expenditure in fiscal year 2000 for the purpose of contracting for a statewide program that assists at-risk youth with the development of life skills. The program shall promote development of greater self-esteem, an appreciation of family members, an understanding of the concept of community and collective responsibility, problem solving skills and money management skills. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2000 shall revert to the general fund.
