MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR THE OPERATIONS OF CHARTER SCHOOLS.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--

A. One million one hundred eighty thousand dollars ($1,180,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the state department of public education for expenditure in fiscal year 2000 in the following amounts for the following purposes: (1) one million dollars ($1,000,000) for the charter school stimulus fund; and

(2) one hundred eighty thousand dollars ($180,000) for transportation expenses incurred by charter schools.

B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2000 shall revert to the general fund.
