Synopsis of Bill



House Bill 107 provides a general fund appropriation to the Department of Finance and Administration to compensate the pueblo of Zia for the "unauthorized use of the Zia sun symbol as the state symbol for 75 years." The bill also directs the governor to negotiate a contract with the pueblo of Zia for continued use of its sun symbol.



Significant Issues



This bill is for the Indian Affairs Committee.



FISCAL IMPLICATIONS



The bill makes a general fund appropriation of $75 million to the Department of Finance and Administration for expenditure in fiscal year 2000. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of FY2000 reverts to the general fund.
