Synopsis of Bill



House Bill 136 appropriates $83.0 to CYFD for the purpose of providing special services to children temporarily residing in domestic violence shelters.



Significant Issues



House Bill 136 would provide for the cost of food, clothing, medicines, hygiene supplies and health care for children temporarily residing in domestic violence shelters. The department is budgeted for domestic violence programs and this legislation would enhance those programs.



FISCAL IMPLICATIONS



House Bill 136 appropriates $83.0 from the general fund and would be recurring. The department indicates that currently a budget of $331.6 designated for the care and support of children temporarily residing in domestic violence shelters.



ADMINISTRATIVE IMPLICATIONS



The department would adjust the funding allocation to domestic violence providers statewide to include the additional funding.
