Synopsis of Bill
House Bill 199 appropriates $750.0 from the general fund to the Human Services Department to support a statewide safe water assistance program for indigent and low-income persons.
Significant Issues
A similar program was funded by the Legislature in FY96. At that time, however, the New Mexico Mortgage Finance Authority was directed to administer the program.

1. Is the Mortgage Finance Authority better equipped to administer this program statewide than regional community action agencies?
