AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY TO CONTRACT FOR THE PROVISION OF TRAINING PROGRAMS FOR COMMUNITY ORIENTED POLICING; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Three hundred fifty thousand dollars ($350,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the department of public safety for expenditure in fiscal year 2000 for the purpose of contracting for the provision of training programs for community oriented policing. The appropriated money shall be used in part to purchase a mobile resource center to enable the training programs to be conducted in various communities statewide. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2000 shall revert to the general fund.

Section 2. EMERGENCY.--It is necessary for the public peace, health and safety that this act take effect immediately.
