AN ACT
MAKING APPROPRIATIONS FOR THE CUMBRES AND TOLTEC SCENIC
RAILROAD AND RELATED LITIGATION COSTS; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Four hundred thousand
dollars ($400,000) is appropriated from the general fund to
the Cumbres and Toltec scenic railroad commission for
expenditure in fiscal years 2000 and 2001 for renovations and
repairs; provided that this appropriation is contingent upon
Colorado providing a match of at least four hundred thousand
dollars ($400,000). Any unexpended or unencumbered balance
remaining at the end of fiscal year 2001 shall revert to the
general fund.
Section 2. APPROPRIATION.--Twenty-six thousand nine
hundred dollars ($26,900) is appropriated from the general
fund to the office of the attorney general for expenditure in
fiscal years 2000 and 2001 to cover New Mexico's share of
litigation costs related to defense of the Cumbres and Toltec
scenic railroad commission. Any unexpended or unencumbered
balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2001 shall revert
to the general fund.
Section 3. EMERGENCY.--It is necessary for the public
peace, health and safety that this act take effect
immediately.
