AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO CHANGE THE VALUE OF CURRENT YEAR PUBLIC SCHOOL ENROLLMENT GROWTH UNITS FROM 1.00 TO 1.86; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Two million eight hundred thirty-two thousand one hundred dollars ($2,832,100) is appropriated from the general fund to the state department of public education for expenditure in fiscal years 2000 and 2001 to provide funding for changing the value of the current year public school enrollment growth units from 1.00 to 1.86. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2001 shall revert to the general fund.

Section 2. EMERGENCY.--It is necessary for the public peace, health and safety that this act take effect immediately.
