AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR A STATEWIDE FOOD BANK PROGRAM TO FEED HUNGRY AND HOMELESS NEW MEXICANS.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the human services department for expenditure in fiscal year 2001 for the purpose of contracting with a statewide food bank program to gather, pack, transport, distribute and prepare unsaleable and surplus fresh produce to feed hungry and homeless New Mexicans. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2001 shall revert to the general fund.
