AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO PROVIDE CULTURALLY COMPETENT COUNSELORS AND ADVISORS FOR NATIVE AMERICAN JUVENILES AND ADULTS INCARCERATED IN STATE FACILITIES.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--One hundred forty-five thousand dollars ($145,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the corrections department for expenditure in fiscal year 2001 to contract to provide culturally competent counselors and advisors to provide spiritual counseling pursuant to the Native American Counseling Act to juveniles and adults incarcerated in state facilities. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2001 shall revert to the general fund.
