AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO PROVIDE FOR ADMINISTRATION AND OVERSIGHT OF CAPITAL GRANTS TO THE NAVAJO NATION; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the New Mexico office of Indian affairs for expenditure in fiscal years 2000 and 2001 to develop offices in Shiprock and Crownpoint for administration and oversight of capital projects that are funded by state capital appropriations and are located within the Navajo communities in New Mexico. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2001 shall revert to the general fund.

Section 2. EMERGENCY.--It is necessary for the public peace, health and safety that this act take effect immediately.
