AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR THE CHICANO STUDIES PROGRAM AT THE UNIVERSITY OF NEW MEXICO TO SUPPORT THE OFFERING RESOURCES AND LEARNING EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--One hundred forty-five thousand dollars ($145,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the board of regents of the university of New Mexico for expenditure in fiscal year 2001 to support the offering resources and learning empowerment program housed at the university of New Mexico's Chicano studies program in order to retain at-risk Albuquerque high school students in the ninth and tenth grades and to expand the program into Albuquerque middle schools. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2001 shall revert to the general fund.
