AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR THE TEACHER PREPARATION INITIATIVE AT NEW MEXICO STATE UNIVERSITY.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Four hundred thousand dollars ($400,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the board of regents of New Mexico state university for expenditure in fiscal year 2001 for the college of education's teacher preparation initiative that will encompass collaboration with local school districts in the planning and instruction of courses, designing and supervising field experiences and assessing and evaluating teacher education candidates' performance. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2001 shall revert to the general fund.
