SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
This bill appropriates $100.0 to the State Department of Education to provide economic education instruction and other business-related training to elementary and secondary public school teachers in the state.
Significant Issues
According to information provided last year by SDE, this bill aligns with the State Board of Education's goal of preparing a qualified workforce. If students are to become economically independent and proficient in workplace knowledge and skills, teachers must be adequately prepared to provide economic education instruction and business-related training to students.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
Senate Bill 69 appropriates $100.0 from the general fund for expenditure in fiscal year 2001. Any unexpended or unencumbered balances remaining at the end of the fiscal year 2001 shall revert to the general fund.
ADMINISTRATIVE IMPLICATIONS
The State Department of Education staff will distribute and monitor the funds.
