SUMMARY
Synopsis of Amendment
This amendment places an emergency clause on the bill which makes the bill effective upon signature by the Governor.
Synopsis of Bill
This bill would amend the Liquor Control Act to allow a liquor licensee to employ a person as an alcohol server before they have completed an accredited alcohol server training course. The new employee would have 30 days from the hire date to complete the course.
Significant Issues
Current law requires a new employee to complete an accredited training course as a prerequisite to serving alcohol. This bill would provide a 30 day grace period to obtaining the required training.
The liquor licensee would still maintain liability for Liquor Control Act violations.
