SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
Senate Bill 190 appropriates funds to conduct a comprehensive demographic and statistical study of the southwest quadrant of Bernalillo County to assess the economic and social viability for the southwest quadrant supporting commercial industries.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
The bill appropriates $75.0 from the general fund to the Economic Development Department for expenditure in fiscal year 2001. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2001 shall revert to the general fund. This is a non-recurring appropriation.
ADMINISTRATIVE IMPLICATIONS
The Economic Development Department may not have the existing staff or resources capable of conducting an extensive and comprehensive study of this nature. A professional services contract may be required to complete the study; however, EDD indicates that existing staff will absorb the workload.
