SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
Senate Bill 292 proposes to amend the municipal code to provide that a "qualified elector" may include a resident of a municipality's extraterritorial planning and platting jurisdiction.
Significant Issues
The bill alters the municipal code to allow persons living in a municipality's extraterritorial planning and platting jurisdiction to be a qualified elector. A municipality with a population under 200,000 may, by ordinance, decline to exercise power in its extraterritorial planning and platting jurisdiction.
The effective date of the provisions of the bill would be January 1, 2001.
