SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
Senate Joint Memorial 4 directs the Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources Department (EMNRD), working in concert with the Land of Enchantment and Paseo del Norte Clean Cities Coalitions, to collect information regarding the costs and benefits of using alternative fuels. EMNRD is to report the results of this study to the interim revenue stabilization and tax policy committee by September 2000. The General Services Department, Taxation and Revenue Department, and the State Land Office will assist EMNRD to identify, compile, and analyze data and report to the committee. SJM 4 resolves that the report include the status of alternative fuel infrastructure and use, barriers to increased alternative fuel use, and mechanisms to overcome those barriers. The results of the study shall be used to develop a comprehensive statewide plan to expand alternative fuels infrastructure and use in New Mexico.
