SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
Senate Memorial 37 requests that the Legislative Council direct the appropriate legislative interim body to study the feasibility of a voucher plan for kindergarten students. Results of the study are to be presented to the First Session of the Forty-Fifth Legislature.
Significant Issues
Results of the study are to be used to develop a legislative proposal for consideration during the First Session of the Forty-Fifth Legislature.
Questions dealing with the "constitutionality" of vouchers for students attending private schools may be explored as one component of the study.
ADMINISTRATIVE IMPLICATIONS
None. The study can be conducted by the appropriate legislative interim body with existing resources and the cooperation of the Legislative Education Study Committee and the State Department of Education.
