SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
Senate Bill 275 would make a general fund appropriation of $200.0 to the Office of Cultural Affairs (OCA) to support youth education programs in performing arts, including staging, lighting, sound and technical production and participation in dance, orchestral, theatrical, operatic and small ensemble performances in Santa Fe county. Any unexpended balance shall revert to the general fund.
Significant Issues
The Arts Division of the OCA already provides funding for these types of programs throughout the state, through its grants-in-aid program, which is funded at more than $1 million annually. This bill provide an additional $200.0 funding specifically for Santa Fe county.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
Aside from the appropriation made in the bill, Senate Bill 275 would not have a significant administrative or fiscal impact on the OCA. The agency administers numerous grant and contract programs similar to the one suggested in the bill.
