A JOINT MEMORIAL

REQUESTING THAT THE STATE PARKS DIVISION OF THE ENERGY, MINERALS AND NATURAL RESOURCES DEPARTMENT NOT PROPOSE INCREASES IN USE FEES AT STATE PARKS WHILE THE LEGISLATURE IS CONSIDERING REORGANIZING THE DEPARTMENT.

WHEREAS, the state park use fees that were increased in 1998 caught the legislature and citizenry unawares; and

WHEREAS, many New Mexico citizens were adversely affected by the increases and the elimination of the annual pass;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that the state parks division of the energy, minerals and natural resources department be requested to leave park use fees at their current level while the legislature is considering the reorganization of the energy, minerals and natural resources department; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be transmitted to the secretary of energy, minerals and natural resources and the director of the state parks division.
