REQUESTING THE NEW MEXICO LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL TO INSTALL A PLAQUE IN THE STATE CAPITOL PRESENTED BY THE NEW MEXICO DAUGHTERS OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION IN HONOR OF OUR HARMONIOUS MULTICULTURAL HERITAGE.
WHEREAS, the New Mexico state organization of the daughters of the American revolution has as their motto God, home and country; and
WHEREAS, the organization has as goals the promotion of history, education and patriotism, particularly for young people of our state; and
WHEREAS, the membership of the daughters of the American revolution is ethnically and religiously diverse, having in common only their descent from American revolutionist progenitors; and
WHEREAS, the organization recognizes the harmony with which the diverse citizenship of New Mexico has lived together for many generations while maintaining their individual traditions;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that the New Mexico legislative council be requested to place a plaque in the state capitol, donated by the New Mexico daughters of the American revolution, honoring the harmonious multicultural heritage of our state; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be transmitted to members of the New Mexico legislative council and to the New Mexico daughters of the American revolution.
