A MEMORIAL

CONGRATULATING MARTHA MICHELLE COBB AS MISS NEW MEXICO.



WHEREAS, the Miss America program exists to provide personal and professional opportunities for young American women and promote their voices in culture, politics and the community; and

WHEREAS, competition in the Miss America program requires enormous personal commitment, hard work and talent; and

WHEREAS, thousands of volunteers organize the local and state competitions, promoting community involvement throughout the United States; and

WHEREAS, ten thousand young women participate each year in the local and state events; and

WHEREAS, the state titleholders become representatives of their generation, using their stature to address community service organizations, business and civic leaders, the media and others about their platform issues; and

WHEREAS, Martha Michelle Cobb is a senior at New Mexico state university, majoring in community health; and

WHEREAS, Martha Michelle Cobb, from Roswell, is the current reigning Miss New Mexico;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that Martha Michelle Cobb be congratulated for holding the title of Miss New Mexico; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this memorial be transmitted to Martha Michelle Cobb.
