AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO PROVIDE A TEEN SUICIDE PREVENTION PILOT PROGRAM.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Seventy-five thousand dollars ($75,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the department of health for expenditure in fiscal year 2003 to contract for a teen suicide prevention pilot program in Santa Fe county to include: intensive prevention training for adult volunteers; a peer education program for teens likely to have contact with high-risk youth; development of school-based suicide awareness curriculum for middle and high school students; and expanded counseling for high-risk youth and their parents. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2003 shall revert to the general fund.
